Saturday brunch- English muffins

I'd been wanting to make these ever since Singing Horse made them. Her blog took me to this recipe, which linked to Alton Brown's original. I stuck with his recipe, using dry milk instead of fluid, but skipping the shortening. The muffins turned out well, with a good crumb, but a little chewy for my taste. Maybe a little whole wheat flour the next time.

Those look really good. If they were chewy maybe you accidentally made a bagel LOL.

Ha're right, the chewiness was more bagel like..but these were quite soft and hole-y.

Oh yum. I love English muffins. The chewier the better. In fact, I probably eat English muffins for breakfast 4 – 5 times per week. McDonald's throws a hunk of sausage, an egg and some cheese on them and I pay them money for it. Yours look much better! (and I wonder why I can't lose 60 pounds in 30 days…)
Karen, this lady makes the most beautiful food…
