Violent Dreams

I just had a violent dream.

I woke up at night and thought there might be someone in the apartment. I looked out the window and sure enough, a search was going on. My downstairs neighbor (who was also a childhood Biology teacher) agreed to come up and help me search my apartment. She had a small pen knife in her hand. Inspired by that, I drew my bread knife out of the box. We went around opening doors and checking behind curtains. As we turned back, satisfied, the fridge door swung open, and there was a man, holding a gun. I coolly buried my knife in his neck. (This is seriously cool for me, I never get to do anything/come out alive in such dreams!)

Then I woke up for real, and called hubby.

Me: "I had a horrible dream, and now I'm scared to go out."

A: "What did you dream of?"

So I give him the details, ending heroically with my knife in the murderer's neck.

A (shocked) : "Purplesque!!!"

Yep, thats my husband.

Me (a little petulant) : "He would have killed me!"

A (doubtful) : "Well, I guess its okay if its self-defense."

Then he stayed on the phone with me while I checked all the closets, behind bathroom curtains, (even under the bed). I'm not afraid any more, but I do feel a little bit like a murderer.

I'd love to comment but I don't know enough about your life. This would be a great post for the Dreams group. I always accidentally spell dreams as"dreasm" like orgasm; almost always mispel it that way before correcting.

Hope you feel better! That's a scary dream.

dreasm..I like that word, except my dreams are never orgasmic, but quite the reverse. I don't want them analyzed because I'm honestly scared of what might come out. They are almost always violent, scary, and bad things keep happening.

  4. Zotta says:

I don't mean literally orgasmic as in sex, but they can be a kind of a climax of the brain. To be continued.

"I always accidentally spell dreams as"dreasm" like orgasm; almost always mispel it that way before correcting."you gave me my first smile of the day…

🙂 I thought that was a pretty word, too, just like 'my love one'. Our dear friend Z has a way with words.

oh boy, you had me on the edge of the sofa just reading your dream. i wonder if your dreams are violent because of all the badness/sickness you see in humans during your day. hugs :))

I wish I could blame it on that, but I've had horrid dreams ever since I was a child. It does make life awake seem so much better. :))

Thank you guys. Re dream: That sure would be a case for a great psychologist!

That does sound scary. But, it was sort of nice to read that you got the upper hand. In my bad dreams I am always the victim – it is only when I am awake and thinking back on the dream – after my heart calms down, that I get all cool and able!

Lol…exactly, which is why this was a breakthrough for me. After years of being abducted, stranded, robbed and murdered, I finally got my own back. 🙂

My soul mate, you are. Don't even talk to me about dreams.

Lol..just read your post. I'd linked to the cancer study as well..found after doing a whole month of nightfloat!I never have exam dreams..always dreams of being stranded by people I know when I need them. Which is odd, because I'm quite secure in awake life. p.s. we could do therapy together at cut-price and save some money. 🙂

Count me in on the therapy bit purplesque.
