Remembering evenings past..

..and the company of friends.

Tea

It goes to the good folks at Jugalbandi for CLICK, their monthly food photography event.

January's theme is 'liquid comfort', and that simply spells chai for me. A reminder of afternoons spent with family after waking up from the noon siesta, sharing cups of tea and namkeen. Long dusty road trips, with rest stops at the roadside dhaba, and always, the best tea in cheap glass tumblers and cauliflower fritters. Exam nights in the college dorms, tea bubbling over in pans on electric room heaters, the smell of burnt tea leaves mixing with the smell of paper. Night-outs with good friends at roadside eateries, warming our hands around glasses of tea as we dissected the world. The hot cup of tea which soothed everything from menstrual cramps to sore throats to lovesickness.

When all else fails, try a cup of tea.
