Just like that

TIME magazine came out with the top ten lists for 2007. I've always been a sucker for such lists. It seems like a good way to go over the year, thinking 'Oh, yeah, that was cool stuff' and occasionally, 'How did I ever miss that?'
This year's lists ranged from top ten breakups ( Britney and her mom) to top ten buzzwords (cougar, anyone?), including quite a few things I had no clue about (videogames? ) and web videos ( more Britney). Some of the top ten books were familiar ( including A Thousand Splendid Suns), and none of the TV shows were. At the end, I was left feeling that my General Knowledge Quotient had just dropped twenty points.

We live in interesting times.

Yep – those Top Ten lists will do that to you! 🙂

  2. If the reverse were to happen, i.e. you were to know all these lists already.. than obviously, who would buy TIME?Anyways, Knowing everything about Britney can't be called as General-Knowledge.. It'll become too pathetic a term then.

Well, Ms. B is helping a LOT of tabloids still make a living! But I Should have known all the top 10 science discoveries and medical breakthroughs, which I didn't. As for top 10 religious stories..lol..well.

I saw this issue in line at the grocery today. My interest was piqued until I looked at the price sticker. $10.99 for the single issue. *gasps* I may rethink it, though, if there are any left next time I go. Might be a good "time capsule" sort of thing to have.
